Karin's practice focuses on estate, gift and generation-skipping transfer tax planning. She has prepared wills, trusts and prenuptial agreements for domestic and international clients at all levels of wealth. Karin also has experience assisting clients with the often emotional process of estate administration and probate. She has particular expertise in tax matters related to transfer of ownership of closely held business interests to the next generation. Prior to joining Krasnow Saunders Cornblath, LLP, Karin was a trusts & estates associate at Arnold & Porter LLP and then Winston & Strawn LLP. She is licensed to practice law in Illinois, Maryland and the District of Columbia.
Karin has lectured with the American Bar Association and the Chicago Bar Association on several estate planning topics, including dynasty trusts, avoidance of estate litigation and amendments to the Uniform Probate Code.
Karin is a volunteer with the Aids Legal Counsel of Chicago and the Legal Assistance Foundation of Metropolitan Chicago, where she primarily assists same sex couples and terminally ill individuals with their estate planning.
She received a B.A. in Business, summa cum laude, from Mount St. Mary's University and a J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law, where she was elected to the Order of the Coif and was published in the Virginia Tax Review. Karin is currently a Fellow with the American Bar Association's Real Property, Trust and Estate Law Section and a member of several state, local and national bar associations.
